My goal with the first visit is to find the faulty movement pattern that has led to injury and/or pain and relax some of the tight muscles/joints that may be causing the bad movement pattern.  Then give a specialized home exercise routine that will correct these often basic movement patterns for long term relief.  After a few follow ups to further hone the exercise program patients are pain free and know what to do the next time they feel pain.
